DECK CLEANING FAQS

WHAT AREA DO YOU COVER?

We cover all over Cambridgeshire, West Suffolk & South West Norfolk. We can cover outside of this area, however there may be a surcharge depending on the size of the job.

HOW LONG DOES iT TAKE TO CLEAN my decking?

This depends on the size, material and condition of the decking. We will provide a completion target time when we submit the quotation.

HOW DO YOU CLEAN THE DECKING?

Most decking can be carefully cleaned with a low pressure jet wash. We have specialist equipment and chemicals to restore your decking to like new.

HOW FREQUENTLY SHOULD I HAVE MY DECKING CLEANED?

Decked areas that are shaded in the winter months are likely to succumb to algae and become very slippery. We recommend an annual clean.

DO YOU CLEAN UP AFTER YOU'VE FINISHED THE JOB?

Yes, this goes without saying. We always leave our work area clean and tidy.

Sometimes if the surface has been heavily stained by organic matter, a treatment of biocide may be required.

Your decking will then be ready to be restored using a high quality decking oil. Decking oils are available in clear finishes through to darker finishes and are subject to customer preference.

A recently oiled deck even with a clear finish will add a bit more depth to the colour of your decking.

The decking oil will not only prevent the timber from absorbing water but will also offer some UV protection. We only use high quality decking oil and strongly recommend two coats of decking oil for maximum protection and results. However protection doesn’t last forever, so we recommend annual maintenance to keep the desired results and optimised protection of your decking.

How we carry out our full decking cleaning and restoration

Upon acceptance of our quote, we begin the day with removing any loose dirt from the surface of your decking. After this if your decking has previously been treated with a paint-on decking stain, we will remove this with a paint stripper so the wood is returned to it’s natural state before we commence cleaning.

Our next stage (if applicable) is to apply an anti-oxide treatment, this removes staining left on the decking, usually rust stains from screws and other fastenings and/or whitening due to the UV effects of sunlight.

Following this our next stage is to pressure wash the area with a low pressure to avoid damage to the wood, this will clean away surface algae, dirt and grime.
